Indian women sweep international friendly series 4-0

A 25-member India women football team, featuring Odisha players Pyari Xaxa and Jabamani Tudu, today completed a successful tour of Hong Kong and Indonesia, winning all four of their international friendlies. The tour was part of preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Qualifiers Round 2.

India won two matches each against Hong Kong and Indonesia, scoring a total of 11 goals and conceding two. Of the two Odisha players, forward Pyari was used mostly as a substitute by coach Maymol Rocky. But she justified her worth, scoring the all-important goal in the second match against Hong Kong.

Defender Jabamani was a regular feature in the starting line-up and performed consistently well. Ratnabala Devi was the top scorer for India with four goals to her name.
